Job Description:

Position Summary:

 

·         The Individual Client Services Specialist supports all aspects of estate administration.

Essential Functions:

 

·         Administers decedent's estates including probate, valuation and transfer of assets as well as preparation of Federal and State estate tax returns.

·         Collects insurance proceeds, handles Medicare and other medical claims.

·         Ascertains the decedent's debts and collects bank accounts.

·         Arranges appraisals of real property and tangible personal property and prepares date of death valuations for banking and brokerage accounts.

·         Assembles information for the Fiduciary Accountant to prepare the decedent's final income tax return.

·         Establishes estate checking and brokerage accounts, pays all bills, maintains checkbook ledgers and files the estate's inventory with the court.

·         Conducts income tax planning for the estate and beneficiaries.

·         Prepares tax returns, including the Federal estate tax return and State succession and estate tax returns.

·         Closes out the estate including arranging for distribution of remaining assets, drafts receipts and releases and other closing documents.

·         Reviews and interprets wills and trust agreements and implements the plan during the estate and trust administration process.

·         Prepares Federal and State individual and fiduciary income tax returns and possibly returns of private foundations, partnerships and miscellaneous other returns.

·         Communicates with clients, attorneys, bankers and brokerage house representatives

Other Responsibilities:

 

·         Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Education:

 

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience and Skills Required:

 

·         5-10  years relevant experience

·         Familiar with all aspects of estate and trust administration.

·         Working knowledge of estate gift taxation and income taxation of estates and trusts.

·                   Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.

·         Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.

·         Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information.

·         Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written communication with attention to proof reading.
