Our client, a major midtown law firm is seeking a PR & Communications Specialist. The PR & Communications Specialist handles a wide range of communications, including research, writing, business development and general marketing activities, aimed at strategically promoting the firm and its lawyers. In delivering client-focused services, the position works closely with all members of the marketing & business development team, other business personnel and with the attorneys and their staff.

 

  • Edits and produces brochures, capabilities pieces, web descriptions, advertisements, firm publications and other marketing materials used for both internal and external purposes.
  •  Edits and finalizes client alerts, bylined articles, press releases, memorandums, seminar materials, pitch materials, attorney bios, newsletters, bylined articles, other firm publications, as well as internal communications.
  •  Collaborates with the directors, managers and attorneys in gathering information about newly completed transactions and litigation matters, and overseeing the creation of marketing descriptions for such matters.
  •  Ensures consistent messaging across all communication forms and assists in the improvement and evolution of existing pieces.
  •  Assists with producing, editing and maintaining content for the firm website, including updating practice group descriptions, posting alerts and other firm publications, updating attorney biographies and uploading news items.
  • Assists with submissions for awards, rankings, surveys and directories, including industry awards.
  • Collaborates with marketing team members in maintaining the firm's intranet and website.
  • Assists with technologies and tools used to disseminate communication pieces (including email campaigning software; and website, social media tools, intranet and blog publishing tools).
  • Assists with media relations, including pitches, outreach, inquiries, coordination, liaising and tracking.
  •  Coordinates and initiates the design and implementation of programs to enhance the public image of the firm.
  • Provides guidance and assistance as needed with firm events, including client seminars, conference sponsorships, speaking engagements, and providing hands-on support at events.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a law firm.
  •  Experience writing and preparing marketing communications.
  • Superior editing, proofreading and writing skills.
  •  Excellent project and time-management skills with the ability to multitask, consistently meet deadlines and deliver an excellent work product.
  • Strong attention to detail and superior judgment.
  •  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under demanding time constraints.
  •  Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff and provide information in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat and general research.
  •  The duties of the position may require extended and irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
