Job Description:

The Technical Manager will interface productively with cross-functional counterparts at all levels of management and across geographic and cultural boundaries.  He or she may lead internal staff and/or remote/offshore teams. This position must be able to foster a creative and collaborative climate with cross-functional groups, while providing leadership that results in clearly measurable criteria and plans.  This position requires hands-on technical contribution in additional to leadership competencies.
The Technical Manager is required to assign, coordinate and monitor production operation activities and schedules to satisfy or exceed customers' expectations established in the SLA's.  Responsible, with limited oversight from the manager, for managing the daily production support of application systems and has the ability to identify the development and deployment approach to be used to fix production issues.  Must also manage vendor relationships specifically related to offshore consulting.
Major Opportunities & Decisions:
  • Uphold established SLA's to satisfy the business requirements of the constituent business groups
  • Dual accountabilities as hands on technical contributor with some combined leadership responsibilities 
  • Comfortable with highly outsourced model, distributed team across different locations and time zones
  • Partner with BTS (Business Technology Solutions) in the planning and execution of production releases to incorporate production pain points
  • Work with the Business to prioritize incidents, defects and minor enhancements
  • Focus on preventative maintenance and root cause analysis to improve application uptime and reduce production disruptions
  • Simulate periodic business continuity/disaster recovery exercises to mitigate business continuity and disaster recovery risks
  • Lead offshore team in:
    • Providing direction to the offshore teams
    • Monitoring of the daily progress and workflow
    • Solving issues including those on conflicting priorities
    • Emphasis on addressing root cause
    • Recommend solutions that drive continuous improvement
  • Technically proficient in production operations technology and tools and serve as mentor to operational staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and situational awareness
  • Strong organized skills and be self-directed and proactive in problem solving
  • Follow change control processes to satisfy data and process integrity and security
  • Adhere to and comply with IT governance standards an policies

Job Requirements:

  • Programming Languages: C#, ASP.net, ASP, HTML, JavaScript, Angular JS, Entity Framework, Web API
  • Developer Tools: Visual Studio 2015, Team Foundation Server 2013, SQL Server Management Studio
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012 R2, SSIS, SSRS
  • Protocols: ADO.net, ADO, ODBC, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, TCP/IP
  • Server Technologies: Microsoft IIS 8.0
  • Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2012
  • Miscellaneous:  Amazon Web Services
  • Technical:
    • Has in-depth knowledge of responsible technical area.  Is familiar with all IT functions and services.  Understands architectural issues and factors them into decisions and recommendations.
  • Business:
    • Understands customer requirements and their impact on proposed solutions.  Understands the business unit's products, services and basic business processes.  Anticipates how technology enhancements will affect business processes.  Understands business impact of various solutions and can assess tradeoffs between business needs, technology requirements and costs.
  • Project Management:
    • Understands basic PM terminology, concepts and processes.  Possesses working knowledge of general project management practices and methodologies.
Education:  BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent; advance degree desirable.
Experience:  Typically candidates in this role will possess a minimum of one year experience in managing small to medium-scale production support operations and staff..  Three to five years technical experience with notes skills above.
